What is Reentry Court?

Reentry Court is a collaborative justice court for persons released from prison or felony jail, who haveviolated their terms of supervision (PRCS/ PROS, Parole or Mandatory supervision) – and have a history of substance abuse or mental health concerns. The goals of Reentry Court are twofold: to assist these individuals with appropriate and positive support and resources, and reduce the rate of relapse and recidivismin our community.

What are the benefits of Reentry Court?
Reentry Court benefits include personalized support, focused care, assistance with treatment and classes, funding, housing, employment, and other supportive services.  Remaining in compliance for 12 months entitles participants to early termination of community supervision.  Upon graduating Reentry Court, the supervision terminates, and the Court will waive outstanding fines and fees, including older cases that are no longer active.

How does Reentry Court work?

Reentry Court teams are led by the Judge and include a Public Defender, a prosecutor, a probation officer, plus treatment staff and/or case managers.
Applicants are assessed for risk of re-offense and treatment needs, which information is used to create supervision and treatment plans.  The Court then connects participants to a support plan, includingmental health treatment, substance use treatment, employment, school and education, as well as housing. Court sessions to discuss their progress are scheduled approximately 1-4 times per month, attended in person or via Zoom.
